Now Accepting Applications and Nominations for the 2026 NSTA Board of Directors and Leadership Council Election

IF YOU ARE READY TO LEND YOUR VOICE TO THE FUTURE OF SCIENCE EDUCATION, THEN YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE!


We are looking for passionate educators to join our leadership at the national level in promoting effective, innovative science education beyond your school or district. If elected, you will take office on June 1, 2026.

Eligible Offices for the 2026 Election

BOARD OF DIRECTORS (four openings)

President3-year term beginning June 1, 2026 through May 31, 2029 (Year 1 as President-elect; Year 2 as President; Year 3 as Retiring President)

3 Board Member At-Large Directors4-year term beginning June 1, 2026 through May 31, 2030 with the following competencies:

  • Communication and Advocacy Skills

  • Technical & Professional Knowledge within the Association/Organization Field

  • Professional & Industry Experience

 

LEADERSHIP COUNCIL (nine openings) - 3-year term beginning June 1, 2026

Members from the following Districts to serve as District Leaders:

  • District I:  Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island

  • District VI:  North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee

  • District VII:  Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi

  • District XII:  Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin

  • District XIII:  New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas

  • District XVIII:  Canada

Members from the following constituencies to serve as Division Leaders:

  • Multicultural/Equity in Science Education

  • Preservice Teacher Preparation

  • Research in Science Education

Application Deadline

All applications must be completed and submitted by MIDNIGHT on Sunday, November 23, 2025.
